Discovering God's Purpose - Part 1
"Don't copy the behaviour and customs of this world. Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you which is good and pleasing." ROMANS 12:2
"You did not create you, GOD DID! Only He knows what purpose He created you for".
"How do we discover the purpose God created us for. The only way is to see what God has revealed in His Word. IT ALL STARTS WITH GOD - He is the source of our life. Not self help, not the world's wisdom, but ETERNAL TRUTHS" Rick Warren - `Purpose Driven Life'.
As a child and a teenager I lived a pretty sheltered life. I always thought it was due to my parents, but realize now it was more my own doing. You see - I was terrified of the world.
In an earlier blog I mentioned that temptation was never really a problem for me. Well actually, that probably isn't exactly true. I know that I had weaknesses and if not for the Lord, I could have easily fallen. I loved the boys, I'd seen how drink and drugs could easily overtake your life (I went to public school) and it was easy at times to get angry and depressed, allowing my inner thoughts to be heard in a not so nice a manner.
So, it came as quite a surprise when I found myself `in the world' - married to a soldier with `interesting' in laws. I worked in the Public School system in areas I probably would not have chosen for myself. But, as I look back I realize that this was what the Lord was preparing me for.
My parents were not `worldly', but they certainly didn't shy away from its needs. As foster parents, youth leaders and parents they faced the world head on. It would have been easy for me to continue in my some what sheltered life - I still lived in fear, but I learned very early on, that `my birth was not a fluke' and God had made me for a reason.
I can't remember exactly how old I was, but I do remember that one day God said to me: "You will be my seed planter". As an army wife and a teacher I didn't always see the fruits that grew from those seeds. I would move on and my students would grow up and leave; but sometimes I had the opportunity to hear what God had been doing.
Very early in our marriage, Mark and I lived in Broadmeadows and befriended some Vietnamese children. Years later I received a call from one of the young girls. She was now married and had her own children. She was ringing to find out if I knew a good Church she could go to. Facebook is a wonderful way to keep in touch with ex-students and other young people, many of which have not only become successful in their work, but have also walking with the Lord.

"Because we are united with Christ, we have received our inheritance from God. He CHOSE US in advance and He makes everything work out according to HIS PLAN." Ephesians 1:11

"For we are God's workmanship. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things God has planned for us long ago." EPHESIANS 2:10
